For parents
Braids that make mornings easier
A good set of braids means no fighting with a comb before school for weeks. Simone braids kids every week, and she knows how to keep little ones comfortable: gentle hands, short breaks when they need them, and no rushing.
For young kids she keeps the tension light and the braids a sensible size, especially along the hairline, so their edges stay healthy. Beads are always a hit and help the ends stay neat.
A parent or guardian stays for the whole appointment. Bring a tablet, a favorite snack and headphones, and longer styles fly by.

Questions people ask
Kids' braids FAQ
How old does my child need to be for braids?
There's no set age, but kids usually do best once they can sit for an hour or so. For little ones Simone keeps styles simple, light and quick, like cornrows with their own hair.
How long should kids keep braids in?
Two to four weeks is a good rule. Kids' hair grows fast and gets rough treatment at school and play, so taking braids out on time keeps their hair and edges healthy.
Do braids hurt kids?
They shouldn't. Simone braids kids with light tension and smaller sections at the hairline. A little snugness the first day is normal, but if your child has a headache, bumps or is still sore the next day, let her know.
How much do kids' braids cost in Spanaway?
Kids' cornrows start at $70, and box or knotless braids start at $110 for kids 12 and under. Beads are a $10 add-on. Text a photo for an exact price.
Do I need to stay during my child's appointment?
Yes, a parent or guardian stays for the whole visit.
How do I keep my child's braids neat?
A satin bonnet or pillowcase at night is the big one. A little light oil on the scalp a few times a week and a swim cap at the pool help too.
Make them last
Aftercare at home
- Satin bonnet or pillowcase every night. It's the biggest difference.
- Light oil on the scalp two or three times a week.
- Swim cap at the pool and a rinse with clean water after.
- Check the hairline and let Simone know if anything looks irritated.
- Take out by week 4 and give hair a wash and deep condition.
